Welcome

Welcome to the Fingal Sprint 2008, Ireland's largest pool based triathlon, this year running on Sunday 18/May.

Following the successes of the event to date, Fingal County Council Sports Development Department has kindly agreed as in previous years to support the event once again.

The National Aquatic Centre provides an excellent base. It hosts the only international competition pool in Ireland, there is ample parking, great changing facilities and to repeat ourselves, that stunning pool.

Information Update

(Sun 11/May)

The following are some things to be aware for race day:

  • Registration will be open from 6pm to 7pm on Saturday and 7am to 9am on Sunday morning at the NAC. For those competing in the Student Collegiate race registration will be on Sunday 7am to 9am only. Registration will be in the sheltered area up the steps at the front of the NAC.
  • Tumble turning is NOT allowed for any wave. This is for safety reasons.
  • Bike collection after the race will not be allowed until after the last competitor has completed the bike course and exited T2. This is estimated to be about 12:45pm. The reason is again safety and courtesy for those in the final wave.
  • Maps of the bike and run are available. These are the same courses as last year.
  • Details of which wave you are in will be up later on in the week.

Sprint Triathlon

The triathlon consists of a 750m swim, a 20km bike and a 5km run. It is ideally suited to people new to the sport of triathlon. We also hope to see some seasoned competitors battle it out for the top honours. The number of women participating in triathlon has grown steadily in Ireland in recent years and we want to see even more at this race in 2008.

There are 300 individual entries available, plus 10 slots for relay teams of 3.

Junior Aquathlon

Once again we are hosting the Fingal Junior Aquathlon. We invite boys and girls from all over Ireland to take part. This is open for entrants aged between 10 and 17 years of age (inclusive). The event has gone from strength to strength and we look forward this year to an even bigger fun event.

Post race

There will be a post-race presentation and gathering on the grounds of the Aquatic centre.

Our promise

We will host a safe and successful event that is value for money and makes you visit to County Fingal a memorable one.

We look forward to seeing you!

Eoin Ryan, Race Director.
